Congratulations to Ms. Campbell, Curriculum Facilitator/Art Teacher, who was selected at both the National Art Education Association's Southeastern Region Art Educator of the Year AND the National Art Education Association's Southeastern Region Middle Level Art Educator of the Year for 2024.
She was recognized at the NAEA Convention in Minneapolis, April 4th - 6th.
As well, Ms. Campbell just completed the NAEA's School for Arts Leaders Program and was recognized for this accomplishment, too.
During the convention, Ms. Campbell presented five sessions for the Middle Level Division and the School for Arts Leaders on leadership and advocacy.


Congratulations to Mrs. Camp, our chorus teacher, who is April's Teacher of the Month!  Way to go, Mrs. Camp!

Hello Parents!
We are writing to remind  you that Choice 1 Applications opened TODAY! The application will remain open until January 25, 2023 at 5:00pm. You can change the application at any time during the Choice 1 Window. 
To fill in the application please go to https://webapps.richland2.org/choice/ and register. Make sure you use an email address that you check often. This is the email address that all magnet information will be sent to till powerschool rolls over in July. This is the email address Lead Teachers will contact you through as well. Please also remember your login information because you will need to log back into the system in March to accept your offers. 
When you are filling out the application make sure you rank your most wanted program at number 1. We would suggest a backup program just in case you don’t get your first choice. You can change the order of these programs at any time during the Choice 1 window. However, after it closes that will be the order of your program choices.

Orchestra News!
FAME is pleased to announce that Dent 6th grader Patrick Li was accepted into the 2019 All-State Orchestra! There were only TEN Richland Two students to be accepted into this prestigious ensemble, and Patrick was THE ONLY middle school student from Richland Two accepted! In the 6th-8th grade orchestra, there were 88 violin students who auditioned, and Patrick ranked 6th overall out of the 88 (the first 5 students in front of him are all 8th graders!). 

All-State Orchestra will take place the weekend of February 22-24, 2019 at the Irmo Center for the Arts at Irmo High School. Patrick will have the experience of working with for a nationally renowned conductor during rehearsals and will present a concert on the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 24th at 2:00 pm. 

Please help us congratulate Patrick Li!  We are all so very proud of him and this monumental accomplishment!

Congratulations to the following Dent Orchestra students for an outstanding performance at this weekend's SCMEA Orchestra Division Solo and Ensemble Festival! They participated in solos, duets and trios. These students achieved SUPERIOR and EXCELLENT ratings at this event, and also received valuable feedback from the judges. I am so proud of their hard work!

​Congratulations to the Advanced 8th grade World Percussion Ensemble who performed in a steel band festival at the South Carolina Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion.  They received a score of 94 out of 100 for a superior rating.  These students have worked very hard for the past few months preparing for this event and performed a very challenging program among the best percussion groups in the state:

BAND DOES IT AGAIN.....
The Dent Band achieved for the 11th year in a row a Superior Rating at the South Carolina Band Director's Association Concert Performance Assessment.  This is the high rating the band could achieve at this event. 
We still have one more event to achieve the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award which marks the best band programs in the State. 
We've previously one that award for the past 10 years and are primed to receive this award again this year.  
Way to go Dent Band --- we are proud of you!
